Bring BIM thinking into SketchUp — no software switch
SketchUp is fast for sketching but lacks metadata: walls are just faces, floors are just faces — no parameters, no quantity take-offs. Revit/ArchiCAD have them but are heavy and slow at concept stage. Smart Architect solves this by attaching parameters + BIM logic directly to SketchUp — keep the speed, add the data.
Parametric walls
Every wall has its own type (thickness, height, layer make-up). Edit once — applies to every wall of the same type instantly.
Keeps SketchUp’s speed
No new engine, no import/export — draw inside SketchUp, use your SketchUp mouse, keep concept-stage momentum.
Quantifiable
Walls & floors carry accurate area + volume (no re-measuring) — the base layer for future quantity take-off features.
What can the plugin do today?
The beta already covers the core massing toolkit — walls, floors, columns/beams, doors/windows, grid lines & levels, materials.
Draw parametric walls
Wall Tool draws walls by centerline, auto-joining when endpoints meet (toggleable). Each segment carries its own type — change type in one place, updates everywhere.
Edit & cut walls
Edit centerlines directly (Edit Tool), cut walls at any point (Cut Tool), auto-miter when two walls meet at a corner.
Doors & windows (openings)
Cut door/window openings with presets (Opening Tool), move/edit openings directly, or auto-detect openings you draw manually.
Floors
Floor Tool builds slabs from any closed perimeter, with typed thickness, cut holes, or pick from existing walls — standardised massing workflow.
Columns & beams
Column Tool + Beam Tool build parametric structural members (cross-section, height/length), managed by struct types — edit once, applies everywhere.
Grid lines & levels
Grid & Level Builder creates horizontal/vertical grid lines and story elevations — the reference framework for accurate modelling.
Material manager
Material Manager lists every material in the model, batch rename + preview thumbnails — the end of hunting for “Material1, Material2…”.
Smart snap
Snap to wall axis + angle snap (default 15°, customisable) + distance snap — draw fast AND accurately, no more waiting for SketchUp to catch the point.
4 steps to get started
Install the .rbz files directly — no separate installer tool needed. The whole process takes 3–5 minutes.
Runs on Windows & macOS. SketchUp versions older than 2022 are not supported.
Install order matters: Account Manager (AAM) must be installed BEFORE Smart Architect. If installed in reverse order, Smart Architect will report “AAM required” when SketchUp opens.
Create an Arcpoly account
Sign up for free with email or Google — 30 seconds. One account for every Arcpoly app + plugin.
Download & install Arcpoly Account Manager v4.1.0
AAM is the base plugin — it receives licences from your account and grants access to other Arcpoly plugins. Install it before Smart Architect.
- Click “Download RBZ” below → save to disk
- Open SketchUp → Menu Window → Extension Manager
- Click Install Extension → pick the file

Download & install Arcpoly Smart Architect v1.0.0
Once AAM is installed, install Smart Architect the same way (Window → Extension Manager → Install Extension).
The Arcpoly Smart Architect toolbar appears with 2 buttons: Model (draw walls + open main panel) and Material Manager.
Open Account Manager → log in → use
Inside SketchUp, open the Arcpoly Account Manager toolbar → click Login → enter the email + password you created in Step 1.
Done! One login and AAM automatically grants access to Smart Architect. Click the Model button on the Smart Architect toolbar to start drawing.
Note: The beta is free — no activation code required. Just log in to AAM and you’re ready to go.
